I recently finished reading Impulse by Ellen Hopkins and all I can say is that the book is amazing!!! I actually took about 2 or so months trying to finish this book because of how great it was! The book is about 3 teens that are in a Psych hospital after each attempted to commit suicide. They all became great friends until the end that the 2 friends fell in love together. I don't want to spoil the ending, but the ending got to me. After everything I didn't think that "that character" would have done what "they" did.

Blog 13: Lesson 2 Reflection
1.What
are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?
I'm proud that I was able to make time and that it’s
finally over until the last one.
2. a. What
assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation
(self-assessment)?
AE P
AP
CR NC
b. Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2
component contract.
I think I deserve a “P” because I did everything
that was asked for, but didn’t do anything to go above and beyond.
3. What
worked for you in your Lesson 2?
What worked is that I was actually able to present
without the PowerPoint.
4. What
didn't work? If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to
improve your Lesson 2?
My PowerPoint did not work and during the presentation
I felt like I was lost although I was able to present with what worked.
5. What
do you think your answer #2 is going to be?
For my answer two I think it's going to be writing in a diary because
writing what you feel on paper is better than keeping it in.

Blog 12: Mentorship 10 Hour Check
Make
sure that your mentor calls your house teacher by this Friday at 8AM to verify
your 10 hours!
Content:
1.Where are you doing your mentorship?
For my mentorship I mentor a kid at an Madison Elementary school in Pomona.
2.Who is your contact?
My mentor Patty Azevedo.
3.How many total hours have you done (total
hours should be reflected in your mentorship log located on the right hand side
of your blog like your WB)?
I have a total of 10 Hours and 20 Minutes
4. Summarize the 10 hours of service
you did.
In summary of what I have been doing for those 10 hours is meet up with a kid in Madison and I just spend about an hour or so with my assigned kid. We spend our time talking, listening to music or playing games or her choice.
*You need 50 hours plus the original 10 in the summer by
May. The original 10 from the summer do not count toward the
50. By the end of the year, you will have 60 hours counting that original
10.

Blog 11: Holiday Project Update
1. It is important to consistently work on your senior
project, whether it is break or we are in school. What did you do over
the break with your senior project?
What I did during my break was meet up with my mentor Patty Azevedo and went to the TAY Hope Group at Tri-City.
2. What was the most important thing you learned from what
you did, and why? What was the source of what you learned?
What I learned from what I did was that when being in a group like in Tri-City, is that everything is confidential At first when people would tell me that it was confidential I didn't really understand what they meant. Not that I don't know what confidential means, but since whoever I talk to doesn't know the person I'm talking about, I didn't think I was a big deal. From going to the group I realized that I wouldn't like to be in their same position and have someone go out and talk about anything I say in the group, since its not easy for anyone to express themselves. The source of which I learned this was from the TAY Hope group meetings.
3. If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers
for your EQ, who would you talk to and why?
The person that I'd talk to would be my mentor Patricia Azevedo. In these last two interviews and the times I've met up with her, I came to realize that she has many different experiences with many kids that have attempted to commit suicide. She is also very knowledgeable on her career.

Michael Emme
"I wish I could have learned how to hate…don't blame yourselves, Mom and Dad. I love you" "Love Mike, 11:45pm." were the last words of Michael Emme before he committed suicide on his driveway in his yellow mustang. Michaels family pulled into the driveway 7 minutes to late and because of Michael the Yellow Ribbon program was funded 1994. The purpose of this program is to try to prevent as many teen suicides as possible. They hand out yellow cards in remembrance of Michaels yellow mustang and on the card it says "Its OK to Ask4Help" since Michael did not know where to turn when he took his own life. As of 1994-2011 there has been 3,500 teens lives saved. As Michaels parent says "Its OK to Ask4Help." for a 24 Hour Emergency Service you can call
1-800-432-0333.
REST IN PEACE MICHAEL EMME

Mentee
This little play doh fairy is one of the many things that my mentee has done during our hour together. We tend to play with play doh a lot since molding it around and making different figures relaxes her. She's always very intrigued on what she does, although at times she gets distracted and wants to do something else while she's using the play doh or whatever it is that we are doing, because she has ADHD.

Blog 10: EQ
1. Review this. Confirm by stating "I reviewed the rule of three for
writing an EQ."
Essential Question
Once a topic is chosen, the student will
develop a working essential question. The purpose of the working
essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research
which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages
depth and rigor in the chosen topic. An essential question must:
•Provide
a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a
yes/no question)
•Take
a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or
a list)
•Format
(It is specific, The wording makes sense)
"I reviewed the
rule of three for writing an EQ."
2.Review the following EQs and
• Tell
us if each meets the rule of three.
• Tell
why they do or don't.
a.What is the most important factor in healthy
weight loss?
This does cover the rule of three, it doesn't have a yes/no response because there can always be more than one answer.
b.What is most important to securing a
conviction in a criminal investigation?
This eq does cover the rule of three, its answer wouldn't be a yes/no response. They can have many of answers depending on the person.
c.What is most important in creating a
hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
This essential question doesn't cover the rule because the question would have to have answers as facts because they would have to have different surveys made because not everyone would be satisfied the same way.
d.How can an anesthesiologist
best treat chronic pain?
This question is actually straight forward and it allows for it to be argued because depending from the different research each person makes, they can find an answer.
3. Based on your review of the rule of 3 and your experience with assessing four
EQs, please write another draft EQ for your senior project. The senior
team will be meeting with students shortly for EQ revision and approval; you
are expected to bring your research notebook to that meeting with your EQ draft
written inside in pencil.
