INTERPRETIVE

APPLIED
What I did for my independent component is that I created a scrapbook explaining the different mental disorders that there is. I explained the symptoms and everything that has to do the type of mental disorders.

How did the component help you answer your EQ? Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.
It helped me see the different perspectives of the different types of mental disorders there is and it showed me that not all the disorders work the same way. It taught me that every mental disorder has a treatment, but not a cure. Having a treatment for the disorder it helps the patient have positive thoughts and not spend their whole day thinks about their disorder and of committing suicide.

Blog 15: Independent Component 2 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
What I attempt to do for my 2nd independent component, is a scrapbook.  On the scrapbook I will have different topics which are related to suicide such as depression, bipolar disorder and personality disorder, in which I will talk about different treatments/medications that can be used to help treat it. I will try to include images as much as possible, recent studies and/or real life scenarios according to the mental illness that I will be doing of that week.
2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
I will have a  scrapbook and I will print up the articles in which I find the information.
3.  Explain how this component will help you explore your topic in more depth.
The scrapbook will help in search my topic more in depth by keeping up with any new treatment or medications that have been created or have been modified throughout the period. Antidepressants were made to help prevent the suicidal thoughts for adults but in teens antidepressants most of them have a bad reaction towards the development of their brain if used at a young age.
4.  Post a log in your Senior Project Hours link and label it "Independent Component 2" log.

(c)Hours are updated.

(d) What I did for my Independent Component 1 is I would go to Tri City Mental Health Center in Pomona, CA every Monday for an hour or so. After the group meetings with the TAY hope group in Tri City I would usually come back home and would do a little research on the topic that was discussed during the meeting that day to not forget what it was that I was going to look for. I'd normally would use some elective time as well to finish up looking on the topic that was discussed.

APPLIED
: My Independent Component 1 helped me understand my topic a little better because I actually got a hands on depression and although my topic is not depression, depression is the base foundation of someone to commit suicide most of the time.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

1.  Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
For my 30 hours I plan on going to a Tri-City since they have a specific group there that focuses on suicide its called TAY. What I will be doing it that I will go on Mondays since that is the day that they have the meeting and actually talk to the people and interact with the group.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
What I will do to show evidence is that I will take pictures, interview the workers and patients at the center.

3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
What I will do to go into more depth for in my topic is do extra research from whatever it is that the conversation was about the day of.  I will actually have hands on, on my topic since the people that work in the center have experience on dealing with suicidal teens.

4.  Update your Senior Project Hours log.
